So, the first thing that you need to do is to gather up all of your little items. You will need a lot of lights – preferably strings of fairy lights so that you can easily keep track of them – and you’ll need an extension cord as well as an electric outlet or socket.

If you would like, you could add a lovely little star to the top of the tree – if it’s a small tree – and maybe a few plastic decorations such as snowmen or simple tree decorations. You could add tinsel but it might be not such a good idea for when it snows or rains – lights works best for outside decorations.

You need to select the electrical socket or outlet you will use to plug in your outside lights and make sure you will have enough length to make it to the tree. Don’t worry if you don’t because you can use an extension cord; and to be honest, you can always use an extension to run to your tree. Also, you need to make sure the wires for the lights are going to be out of the way so that no one trips over them.

Next, take your fairy lights and extension cord and make sure all of the lights work – you don’t want to put them up and find they do not work – so test them out properly. Next, you can string up the lights in the tree and make sure you cover the tree.

Make sure you wind the lights tightly around the tree so that they don’t fall off and try to start from the top of the tree and continue to the bottom. Once your lights have reached the bottom of the tree, make sure all wires and connectors are correctly in place and switch on your lights.
